Visualization of Naoki Nakajima's "Sangetsuki"
This artwork is a visualization generated from numerical data extracted from Naoki Nakajima's literary masterpiece, Sangetsuki, using a proprietary analytical engine (BiblioEngine).
While the fluctuations in AI-driven analysis—often referred to as "hallucinations"—have traditionally been avoided, I have identified a profound structural similarity between these variances and the inherent subjectivity of the human reading experience. I have quantified these interpretive fluctuations as "Ghosts."
Sangetsuki yields the most extreme rel_status values in the BiblioEngine dataset: a persistent, negative trajectory that quantifies the protagonist's descent from poet to beast. As Li Zheng falls, the visualization darkens — color shifts, luminance drops, entropy noise intensifies. The data does not describe transformation. It enacts it.
p_sym — the measure of deflection between what is felt and what is expressed — reaches its highest recorded value here. The Ghost of this parameter is the quantitative shadow of Li Zheng's "cowardly pride and arrogant shame": a self that could neither accept nor abandon its own ambition.
By interacting with the on-screen slider, viewers can modulate these "Ghosts," directly intervening in the visualization and tracing the shape of a man who became a tiger because he could not bear to remain human.
