Nesting is a generative art project that creates dynamic grid-based compositions inspired by Windows 98's visual aesthetic.
The project features recursive nested grids with the following key characteristics:
- Creates grids of varying sizes (1x1 up to 6x6)
- Uses Windows 98-style borders (outset/inset) and colors
- Implements recursive nesting of cells with adjustable probability
- Allows cells to merge into larger units (2x1, 1x2, or 2x2)
Features four main customizable parameters:
- Grid Size: Controls the main grid dimensions (1-6)
- Cell Border Style: Determines border appearance (outset/inset/mixed)
- Nesting Probability: Controls how likely cells are to contain nested grids (0-0.8)
- Merge Probability: Affects how often cells combine into larger units (0-0.5)
The result is a dynamic composition that combines the rigid structure of a grid system with organic variations through nesting and merging, all styled with a distinctive retro Windows 98 aesthetic.
